FVSU Cold Vegetable Processing Facility

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY, FORT VALLEY, GA - This new 6,240 SF Cold Vegetable Processing Facility is equipped to process vegetables such as collards, kale, peas, and beans. It provides opportunities for small farmers throughout Georgia the processing, ongoing food safety training, and exposure to technology to produce commercial vegetables in order to diversify their farm operations and improve their marketing potentials through education and alternative agricultural enterprises. The facility includes a Processing Area with specialized process equipment, Intake Cooler, Shelling, Dehydration Cabinets, several Coolers, a Freezer, and Receiving Area. The facility also includes offices, classrooms. The facility will also support students in the Family Consumer Sciences teaching and extension nutrition programs and the Food Science Major within the FVSU College of Agriculture.
