Cherokee County Adult Detention Center Renovations and Housing Tower Addition

CANTON, GA - This $40 million project includes renovation and expansion of the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. The County had a need for expanded inmate housing and services. Careful consideration was given to the available building area on the site, which is located in a hilly area of North Georgia. The best solution for the housing need is being met through a 107,039 SF, 583-bed, six level housing tower which allows for the least amount of civil work on the site. It also preserves land for a future housing tower as well. The first floor of the tower includes New Medical Housing. Support services are being expanded to accommodate increased inmate housing. Enhanced and expanded support areas include the 8,391 SF Kitchen and Laundry. Renovations to the existing 2,843 Main Lobby were done to meet the increased visitor needs and operations.
