Historic Daniel Ashley House Renovation & Restoration

VALDOSTA, GA - The staff of Studio 8 provided design and construction administration for renovation and historic restoration of the 52,513 SF historic Daniel Ashley House. The seven-story building is located in downtown Valdosta and was originally constructed in 1925. It originally operated as a hotel and was later converted to apartment housing.

The property was restored by Integrity Development Partners through tax-credit funding. The rehabilitation project preserved many historic elements, and brought others back to life, including the exterior, neon sign mounted on the north-east corner of the property. Completed under strict Historic Preservation Guidelines with The Jaeger Company, the project met energy efficiency guidelines as specified by EarthCraft.  The marble and terrazzo in the common areas were cleaned and repaired. The apartment units were renovated and restored. An exterior courtyard, computer resource center, and clinic were included in the project as well.

The scope of the project included a wide variety of work and brought the apartment building into ADA compliance. Both extensive interior and exterior work was performed.
