Brown Nicholson Terrace Apartments Renovation

COLUMBUS, GA - The renovation of Brown Nicholson Homes Apartments is one of three large projects Studio 8 Design has completed for the Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia. The project was funded by Federal Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) funds and is the second largest project of its type (in the Country) completed using RAD funding. The project meets all HUD guidelines for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The project is located in an urban, historic district of Columbus. 

The work included a massive renovation designed to update the building and bring all elements of the building and site into ADA compliance. Concrete paving, wheelchair ramps, and pavement markings were provided to meet ADA requirements throughout the site and at the community building. Interior gypsum wall board, flooring, doors, door frames and trim, hardware, electrical, plumbing, water heaters, HVAC, and appliances were removed and replaced with new. New attic, wall insulation and air sealing were provided.  The building received new waterproofing as well.

The exterior was pressure washed and painted and brickwork and keystones were re-worked. New roofing, gutters, downspouts, fiber cement siding, and flashing at windows and doors were provided. New windows are energy efficient Low-E.
